Verizon's 4G gets rolled out in the Twin Cities this weekend. It is promoted as a complete and total game changer. The potential to route continuous high speed internet access through nearly any device is, admittedly, appealing.
However, 3G still has some tricks up the sleeve and today's smartphone can do some pretty cool tricks. Who would have thought 10 years ago that in 2010 we'd hold our finger up to a camera on our phone and get an accurate heart rate...and that the app that powers it would be completely free? Instant Heart Rate is a good reminder of just how many things our mobile phones can accomplish.
It might be almost enough to make one think we should capitalize on the power of our students' cell phones in the classroom :)
